General information, not financial advice. Card names and features were checked on the issuers’ and cruise lines’ own pages in October 2026 and can change at any time. We do not list rates, fees or bonus offers, we do not take applications, and we are not paid by any card issuer. Always compare the current terms on the issuer’s own website before you apply.

Is a Carnival Credit Card Worth It for You?

A Carnival credit card earns the most for people who sail Carnival regularly and spend on the ship or in its shore programs. Because points sit inside Carnival Rewards, they are most useful if you will keep cruising Carnival.

If you cruise with several lines, compare it with a general travel card first. Our choosing a card page sets out the trade-offs.

  • Check the current earning categories and any annual fee on Barclays’ page.
  • Ask how points convert to money off a cruise or onboard spending, and the minimum to redeem.
  • Read what happened to perks from the old card if you held one; some benefits did not carry over.

If You Held the Carnival World Mastercard

Carnival and Barclays announced that existing Carnival World Mastercard accounts would move to the Carnival Rewards Mastercard during their billing cycles after launch. If you held the old card, look for messages from Barclays about your account, check how any older points were carried over, and review which benefits remain. Some perks of the old card were reported discontinued, so compare the new benefits page with what you used before.

Carnival Rewards Is Not the Card

It is easy to mix the two up. Carnival Rewards is the loyalty program every Carnival guest can join, with tiers earned by cruising and spending with Carnival. The credit card is optional and simply earns in the same program. Frequent Cruiser Program explains how cruise loyalty tiers work across lines.
